As part of the “Addressing and preventing care needs through innovative community care Centres (I-CCC)” project, on December 6 and 7, 2022, training sessions for informal caregivers were held at the Red Cross Sombor. The objective of these trainings was to improve the knowledge and skills of people who provide care to a functionally dependent member of their family.

Participants received basic knowledge about communication with caregivers, fall risks for older persons, the most common health problems and emergency situations for older persons. Special attention during the training was directed towards persons with diagnosed dementia; the participants received the necessary knowledge on how to provide care to these persons, and they also received information on how to take care of themselves and their physical and mental health. During the training, they also received concrete examples that related to some of the most common circumstances in which they can find themselves during care.
